Kanye West Plans 40-Minute Film Companion To “Runaway”
Ye tells NY Mag that the film companion to his Pusha T-assisted song will be centered around a relationship with a phoenix.
Kanye West spent time in the Czech Republic city of Prague last month, and revealed to his Twitter followers, that he was shooting videos. As it now turns out, the G.O.O.D Music head was indeed working on a 40-minute visual companion to his recently-premiered “Runaway”
The song, assisted by Clipse’s Pusha T, was performed live at Sunday’s 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Explaining the video to New York Magazine’s Fug Girls, West revealed, “It’s the story of a phoenix fallen to Earth, and I make her my girlfriend, and people discriminate against her and eventually she has to burn herself alive and go back to her world. I’ve been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It’s been in my heart for a while. It’s maybe parallel to my career. I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person.”
The decadent emcee/producer also revealed that he wishes to edit the short feature film by boat.
